Corporate responsibility

In the UK, Network Rail have been fined £4 million for a rail accident in which one woman died and eighty-eight people were injured. Where will the money come from to pay this fine? You know it will come from tax-payers and fare payers (presumably that will include the bereaving relatives of the woman that was killed).

Since Network Rail experienced an operational failure, the officers of the company should be held to account. In a case like this the fine should be paid by the Directors of the company. We need to hold corporate officers directly responsible for corporate failures and wrong-doing.
